Bangladesh, India and Nepal host both mature legacy GSO (Geostationary Orbit) satellite services and newly emerging NGSO (Non-Geostationary Orbit, mainly LEO constellations) services. Traditional GSO systems typically adopt fixed parabolic dishes paired with discrete ODUs consisting of receive LNBs and transmit BUCs. In contrast, LEO constellation terminals must continuously track fast-passing satellites and compensate Doppler shift in real time. Accordingly, hardware design is shifting from field-replaceable discrete LNB/BUC components toward integrated electronically steered antenna terminals. Nevertheless, GSO services remain relevant. The two categories of demand will coexist for a long period, with clear divergences in band selection, performance specifications and environmental protection requirements.
| Scenario | Orbit | Recommended Hardware |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed DTH broadcast | GSO | Standard Ku LNB + fixed parabolic dish |
| Government / enterprise HTS VSAT | GSO(HTS) | Low noise LNB + BUC discrete ODU |
| Portable, vehiclemounted & emergency broadband | NGSO(LEO) | Integrated electronically steered phasedarray terminal |
| LEO ground gateway | NGSO | Mechanical tracking antenna + professional LNB/BUC |
