As countries worldwide accelerate the commercial deployment of 5G networks in the 3.4–3.8 GHz spectrum, spectrum overlap conflicts between terrestrial mobile communications and C-band satellite communications have intensified significantly. The standard downlink range of FSS C-band satellites (3.7–4.2 GHz) overlaps heavily with mainstream 5G frequency bands. High-power 5G signals cause severe adjacent-channel intrusion and RF spurious emissions, saturating and distorting the front-end low-noise amplifiers of traditional C-band LNBs. This results in a 4–6 dB SNR degradation in VSAT/FSS satellite systems, leading to link stuttering, elevated bit error rates and intermittent disconnections, which severely undermine the stability of maritime communications, aviation broadband, enterprise private networks and satellite broadcast reception.
To address this industry challenge, a new generation of C-band LNBs with built-in 100MHz guard band 5G-resistant filters has become the standardized core solution, fully compliant with CEPT ECC Decision (21)01 for EU terminal upgrades. Unlike conventional external filters, this integrated LNB embeds a high-performance cavity filter, establishing a precise isolation boundary at 3.7 GHz. It effectively divides the spectrum into a 3.4–3.7 GHz interference stop band and a 3.7–4.2 GHz satellite pass band.
The 100MHz wide guard band eliminates signal leakage caused by insufficient roll-off of narrow-band filters. It delivers deep attenuation of mainstream 3.5 GHz 5G interference and completely suppresses terrestrial 5G RF spurs, fundamentally preventing LNB RF saturation and blockage. Meanwhile, the integrated design shortens the RF signal path with ultra-low insertion loss, preserving the full 3.7–4.2 GHz satellite receiving bandwidth without attenuation or compression. It steadily restores the SNR of satellite downlink channels and ensures standard transmission performance for C-band satellite communications in dense 5G scenarios.
Superior to traditional external filter retrofits, the integrated 100MHz guard band 5G-resistant C-band LNB features outstanding performance, stability and compatibility. With simple installation and reliable outdoor protection, it is widely applicable to fixed satellite earth stations, maritime VSAT terminals and remote satellite communication devices, serving as the optimal mainstream solution to eliminate C-band spectrum interference and complete global compliance upgrades before the end of 2026.
